Class Notes 9/14

- Pick or imagine a narrowly focused group (15-25 years old) for a new Internet radio station whose interests would lend itself to an experimental sound identification. Create an audio i.d. for this station as follows.

Create a name for the target group for the Internet radio station and write

a 3-7-word intro text that will be read during the audio i.d.

Using the lab microphones and computers, record your own voice speaking the text you wrote. Record your voice 10 or more times to achieve best results.

Find or record a sound that in someway (directly or indirectly) relates to the target audience group and the station’s purpose.

Find a piece of unknown (not popular or common) instrumental music that may be mixable with this sound.

- Referencing your research into sound experimentation and branding, use SoundStudio to mix the music tracks with your spoken text. Adjust the volume on both the edited music and your voice to blend them seamlessly into one message and listening experience.

- The length of the completed audio ID is typically 5-10 seconds.

- Post all your results.
